Lebanese 7 spice mix, also known as baharat (spies in Arabic), is a combination of spices that can enhance the flavor of many different dishes. This spice differs from kitchen to kitchen and today I am sharing with you my version of this wonderful spice blend. You’ll be able to create delicious Lebanese-inspired dishes that are sure to please your family and friends With this recipe you don’t need to start guessing the ratio of spices to use, I have tested and experimented with different ratios of spices until I found the perfect blend. This baharat is so delicious and in no time you’ll be creating tantalizing dishes that are bursting with flavor with it. This recipe is simple and convenient as I used the spice blend I have at hand without compromising on the Middle Eastern flavor. However, you can use whole spices and toast them before blending them together(more enhanced flavor). I love the versatility of this homemade seasoning, you can make it your own as long as you don’t miss out on the all-important ingredients (allspice, black pepper, clove, and cumin) that give this spice mix its unique flavor. You will love this recipe because it is quick and easy to make. it is salt-free and made with whole natural ingredients. Unlike the store-bought version that contains filler or other ingredients, you may not be able to pronounce, this homemade version is free of that. A little of my homemade baharat goes a long way, just add a few spoonfuls to your beef, poultry, grains, etc to give it a flavorful kick.

What is baharat
Baharat is a Middle Eastern spice blend that is traditionally used to flavor meat and fish dishes. The word “baharat” means “spices” in Arabic, and the blend typically includes a combination of allspice, black pepper, cloves, and cumin. Other common ingredients in baharat spice blends include cardamom, coriander, nutmeg, and paprika. Baharat can be said to be like Garam masala’s Middle Eastern cousin. While garam masala is a North Indian spice blend that is commonly used in curries, baharat is more commonly used in Levantine cooking.
